The Out_Circuit - Pierce The Empire With A Sound

About two years ago I discovered a band that amazed me with its powerful mood setting and atmosphere right from the first listen... and that band was The Out_Circuit. If you could call it a band, since Ex-Frodus bassist and singer Nathan Burke basically does everything on this record save for some guest contributions like Dustin Kensrue and Teppei Teranishi of Thrice, and Sean Ingram of Coalesce, among others.

The bands sound intrigued me so much, that I have always searched for their lyrics online, but to no avail as it seems that they have never been listed anywhere. I have searched all the dark corners of the internet for it. So I figured, it was time to buy the physical record(along with his other record and side projects), and not only do I get to own the physical copy, I'd have the insert to read and with that, the lyrics! So I ordered it.

With the record in hand, I have taken upon myself to post the lyrics of what I feel are the most important songs to me of this masterpiece of an album, specially because I feel the message of this record should not be left to obscurity to those that bought it digitally from iTunes, or other sources. It should shine through darkness and reach others out there, as it spoke to me.

The Out_Circuit - Pierce The Empire With A Sound lyrics:

Come Out Shooting - Background Keys/Shaker: Teppei Teranishi Keyboards/Bass/Vocals: Nathan Burke

Break my waves upon thee / My fists, my lungs, my fallen head / Collapsing before futures / Carved out for the dead / Lift up the burden you carry / Lift up your heart / And if it breaks / Know that it builds you / And it breaks you / By design
I'm all done running, time to take a stand / The person that I was is undone / See what's been given / And make it stick / The empty that once was is gone

Destroy your idols, son, You bow to shadows, Embrace the narrow way;
And if you wait until, Your heart is better, You will never come at all.

Sing into the wire "Your revolution does not exist" / A lie cannot sustain itself forever / Like light that overcomes shadow / Like light that saves / And it cuts through / Then let it pierce you and conform you if you dare
I'm all done running, time to take a stand / The person that I was is undone / See what's been given / And make it stick / The empty that once was is gone

Take up your armor, son, And come out shooting, Embrace the narrow way;
And if you tarry 'til, Your heart is better, You will never come at all.

Across The Light - Lyrics/Vocals:Rachel Burke, Nathan Burke Keyboards/Guitars: Nathan Burke

Across the land / Across the light / I wonder how the distant forms I see / Take flight / In porcelain / And jaded green / Our dated scents / And all the spaces in between / Should I attempt / To mark the air / With sound / And further wonder where on Earth it lands? / To long / To breath / To wonder how / To draw between the lines / And praise the Lord / On high.

The Contender - Lyrics/Vocals: Dustin Kensrue/Burke Bass/Guitars/Keyboards: Nathan Burke

I'm tired Lord, and a voice in my head says "fall on your sword, you will find rest" Friends fallen still, and friends still to fall. Who knows your will? I least of all. Nothings for naught. I still contend. Glory to God, world without end.

New Wine - Guitars/Vocals: Nathan Burke

This night we open a door / That cannot be closed again / I sink in the room / The words I long for elude me / The tone, the hearth, the candle hints in the dark vermillion / "Here's to dark hours yet to come, and to signs of the end of the age!"

Let me drink, Of new wine, Let me think...

The sound resounds around the room / And causes my heart to still / I come to recognize / The life I long for eludes me / The bread, the life, the newness that my heart has been longing for / I raise the cup and realize / That yours is the blood on the door

Let me be, Of new wine, Let me see... (Show me mercy so my heart rejoices...)

Scarlet

Child, did I ever tell you the story / How I emerged from a great darkness? / From death to life? / In the clearing I held you / And thought "May you one day be as safe in another man's arms".

  1. Hey Dante...thanks for the appreciation! It's encouraging to see someone looking a little deeper. Sorry for not making the lyrics easier to find...I posted them on Virb a while back, but they seem to have changed things. Working on a new site exclusive for all the material with free downloads, lyrics, the works.
